User reviews
I’ve been with iPage for a while now and can’t even tell you how pleased I have been with their service. When I signed up I really needed to have some help transferring my site. iPage helped me transfer my website from my old host to my them with no hassle, and within a few hours.
That’s service! My website has had no downtime and all scheduled repairs occur on off-peak hours and are done quickly.
I’m very pleased and would recommend iPage to anyone.
iPage has been a tremendous source of help for my small business website. I really didn’t have a clue as to what I was doing, but they helped me build the knowledge to get my site up and going. After I got my site going I tried using Adwords with the coupon they offer, free coupons always help. I love iPage and have told many others about it as well.
I really can’t complain very much with this service. It works well, a decent uptime, cheap prices. There are some lacking features. I’ve had better experiences with hosts and also very very bad experiences. I would rate this somewhere between OK and great.
After just 1 week fron joining iPage I had 2 downtime incidents with them (48 hours in total) and I expressed to them my wish to cancel the account.
Only 4 days after that last incident suddenly I found yet again that my sites were down. I tried to send them an email requesting to cancel my account but to my surprise I already had an email from them, stating that “Unfortunately we have canceled your account due to TOS (terms of service) violation”.
I spoke with them for 3 hours (the chat was disconnected 5 times!) and No-one would tell me why my account was cancelled, which TOS I’ve “violated” nor whether they intend to give me a refund or what…
The next day I called them again and then (finally) someone told me that they “had receive a DMCA takedown notice and they try to contact me to no avail” (?!).
Obviously they didn’t agree to send me a copy of that alleged “takedown notice” nor manage to explain how they “tried” to contact me…
Since then they promised to get back to me with more info about the issue, and naturally they haven’t done it yet.
Moreover I gave them my personal cell phone so they could easily reach me – how naïve of me.
So, in short:
They had almost 48 hours of downtime
They cancelled my account giving me zero warning due to a bogus DMCA claim
They caused me the loss of one of my sites data – didn’t gave me time to backup
They stole my domain (“seized him”, as they said)
Stole my money (giving me zero Refund)
If that’s the behavior of a serious web hosting company than the World is really upside down…
My hosting with iPage is up for renewal, and they are invoicing me for three times the advertised price, which I paid when I set up my account a year ago. When i queried this and asked why they were billing me almost three times the advertised price of $3.50/month the didn’t answer my question, but replied:
“We do apologized for the inconvenienced that this caused you.
While we always make every effort to keep our prices low, from time to time we do find it necessary to make pricing adjustments. Unfortunately, we had to increase the price for the hosting packages due to the following reasons:
1. Rising cost of technology and support resources.
2. To control inflation.
If you have any further questions, you can email us back or update the support console. We are available 24×7. ”
They then offered me $83.40 per year, effectively twice the advertised price …since I am one of their ‘valuable customers’.
They WERE good up till now, but if you are considering using them, be aware that the pricing they advertise ONLY applies to the first year.
I don’t have a problem with them charging a fair price, just that this is – in my opinion – a deceptive sales practice, as nowhere is this made clear when you set up a new account with them.
Yes I have had this experience too…more than double for renewal but they were very quick to offer me a large reduction…still up $20 which is ridiculous.

I have not been able to access ipage.com (control panel) nor my own website for over 10 days due to server router issue.
Error: ..can’t open the page “http://www.ipage.com/” because …can’t find the server “www.ipage.com”.
ipage provides no cost-free way for me to report or get updated about the issue.
Not happy!!! Costing me money!!! No contact from them.
iPage is a scam operation. Their website didn’t work for me, and they kept giving me stupid advice, like “try to reset your password.” Then when you cancel, they charge you $15.00. I’ve only been with them for 2 days. This would be illegal in the US, but since they’re based in Canada, they’re not subject to US laws.
I wish I would have seen your review BEFORE I purchased hosting from iPage. I just wanted to inform everyone that after having a fine experience with them for one year, I received an invoice for my renewal at $107.40/year!!! That is quite a steep jump over the $40 I spent on my first years hosting. This is interesting to me because I switched my hosting from justhost.com to ipage for the exact same reason. The justhost.com accounts also jumped to $107.40/year. A very specific price and it makes me think the two companies are related. Unfortunately I have moved several hosting packages to ipage in the past year and now have to go through the hassle of moving them all again without my customers noticing a downtime. I do not support the bait and switch practices of these two companies!!
iPage seems incapable of efficiently resolving problems. Live chat and telephone support is worthless if it provides no help. Live chat is extremely slow, you are repeatedly asked to wait for extended periods of time. The responses are boilerplate that often do not answer the questions. My SEO Marketing Manager insisted it was imperative my company name in the title be preceded by the city I am in. The alignment would not work and part of the name ran into a picture on a Weebly drag and drop site that could not be moved. After two emails to him he passed me along to tech to fix the problem he created. After a call and three back and forth chats with tech they said it could not be done. All the while my site is up like this. My marketing manager takes no ownership for creating the problem. He ignores an email to have whoever is in charge of SEO call me. I can not get this person by phone but I am promised the right person will quickly respond. IPage has a slick site. Unfortunately they are also slick at avoiding problem resolution.
First Year charge that I know $40
Next Year automatic charge $150
Do they let you know this before? No.
Customer service says click on terms and service
So I did. It doesn’t tell you there…
I had to click to a different link to look for where it says it will have an automatic renewal.
SCAM.
SCAM.
SCAM.
avoid avoid avoid the first year is an inexpensive when it comes time to renewal look out sticker shock on the way
I must confess I didn’t research about ipage until late, I have several days trying to work with them and I am having this strange feeling that they want to scam me.
I paid with PayPal and since the minute one they are insisting to get my credit card number, ID, etc:
After payment with PayPal they sent me an email claiming they need copy of my credit card and ID… I told them that I paid with paypal and after several emails back and forth, they activated my account.
Then they couldn’t register my domain. After several emails I had the option to choose another one (they offer one free)… and after a day they tell me that in order to have the domain I want I should buy another domain??? So I have to buy one domain to get the free one??? They ask of course my credit card number.
So I won’t give them nothing and they can keep what I already paid… gooooood by ipage.
I wasn’t going to comment on this post but I see so many stupid comment complaint about price. Get over it people, get your iq up and think before you even buy or maybe say something.
If you smart enough you would understand what an introductory offer mean and also what the normal rate mean. This is why first year it almost always cheaper to buy any hosting package at introductory rate. The second year or second renewal is when you have to pay full price which is regular rate for the service. This is how web hosting company been doing business for the pass several years/decade.
Read the fine print if you don’t want to be surprise. It your fault to be blind by the cheap rate and not looking at the fine print. But anyway if you like the service stay with it. Cheap and Money hording people are what brought down the economy we had enough of that.
